Why do I cycle? It’s a question I often ask myself mid 20% gradient, at 6.00am in February when I’m embarking on a training ride or when I’m abandoned at the side of some desolate country lane trying to repair a puncture. But the thing is there’s nothing quite like cycling, the sense of freedom, camaraderie and feeling you get when you finish a big ride or reach the top of a big climb are second to none!

Being able to ride my bike and help to raise some cash for such a deserving local charity was always going to be a win win situation. I can’t wait to get stuck into the training and I’m sure the young team will be at the finish line to greet our more mature team mates with a beer at the end of the 100 miles 😉
