Property sector throws Snowball for children’s charities
Birmingham’s property and construction sector has raised thousands of pounds for disadvantaged children, as one of the city’s biggest charity events returned for the first time in two years.
The Snowball, organised by Property for Kids, saw 400 professionals gather at The Jam House in St Paul’s Square to enjoy live music by bands, Hot Property and Under Construction, whose members all work in the property and construction industry.
The annual fundraiser and networking event raised almost £7,000 for children’s charities and good causes across the West Midlands, including Chilcroft Primary School, Hippodrome Education Network, Ladywood Community Project, FareShare Midlands, First Class Foundation and Birmingham Children’s Trust.
Guests each brought Christmas gifts to the event, with 1,500 presents being distributed to Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid for children and young people.
The Snowball has become one of the most popular events in the Birmingham business calendar since its inception. This year’s event was sponsored by ESC, Estilo Interiors, GMI Construction, MFG Solicitors, Midgard, Overbury and Willmott Dixon.
Chairman of Property for Kids, Jilly Cosgrove, said: “It was hugely exciting to be able to host The Snowball again and to see so many people from our property community in attendance. We’re very fortunate that the event continues to be so well supported, both in terms of sponsorship and the number of gifts that are generously donated by local businesses. It really does make a massive difference to a whole range of fantastic charities that are striving hard to help children with physical or mental difficulties or those young people who simply have had few opportunities in their lives.”
Property for Kids has distributed hundreds of thousands of pounds to more than 50 different children’s charities since its inception in the 1980s, supporting local good causes with the provision of useful assets including a safe playground, a minibus and specialist equipment.
